Upcycling for the sake of nature

Do you know the concept of "upcycling"? Upcycling is a sustainable approach where resources that would usually be discarded, instead used to create new products of higher value. As a company, we feel an obligation to preserve our nature and to minimize our environmental impact and promote circular resource consumption. The ocean - A source of collagen

From residual product to Premium Marine Collagen

The fine, light and bright collagen powder that you find in all of ours Vild Nord Collagen products are manufactured through a hydrolysis process. But what does it mean when we say that our marine collagen is hydrolyzed?

From Fishskin two collagen

After catching, the cod is filled and the skin is collected. Usually, the fish skin is discarded or used in the manufacture of feed, but V has instead chosen to upcycle the skin using a special processing, so you can benefit from a beautiful collage powder of the highest quality.

When we upcycles fishing skin, we use the Earth's resources to the fullest. One kilogram of fishing skins gives approx. 130 grams collagen. It may not sound like much, but the fishing skin also consists of anything but collagen and there will always be a remnant of the fishing skin after our machining. These residues are used, among other things. to produce animal feed.

The North Atlantic Cod

In order for us to get the collagen out of the fish skin, it must be processed in a very special way. Hydrolysis involves a chemical process in which the fish skin is degraded by water and enzymes. In this way, the collagen can be extracted.

The fishing skin is undergoing a process where it cleaned and impurities are removed. Then the skin is softened and selected enzymes are added. The enzymes break down the fish skin and its proteins to smaller peptides and amino acids.

When the hydrolyze process is over, the collagen is filtered to remove insoluble particles, resulting in a clear and pure powder.

The collagen powder is now used in all Vild Nord Collagen-Variants - Also in your favorite. Some products are added to vitamins and minerals in the form of e.g. seaweed and berries.
